A Place to Call Home

Roanie Sullivan, the outcast motherless son of a drunken hooligan, grows up on the streets of Dunderry, Georgia until he is befriended by Claire Maloney, the spoiled daughter of a wealthy local family. The Maloneys eventually take Roanie in and provide him with the home he never knew. When Roanie's father tries to interfere, Roanie shoots him dead and is sent to a foster home.
